TrackOS

TrackOS is a multi-site web analytics platform I developed from end to end and deployed on my VPS. It brings visit collection, storage and analysis into one application to understand how visitors discover and use my websites.

Understanding traffic and site usage

A central dashboard lets me follow live activity, compare websites and identify the most visited pages. My own service collects the data and stores it on infrastructure I manage; audience measurement does not require a Google Analytics account.

Main features

  • Multi-site management: register domains, assign each site a tracking key and generate an HTML snippet for integration.
  • Real-time monitoring: incoming visits, active visitors and live dashboard updates through Socket.IO.
  • Audience analysis: page views, unique visitors, estimated geographic origin, browsers, operating systems and device types.
  • Engagement: time on page, scroll depth and bounce indicators; collection of custom events such as button clicks or form submissions.
  • Traffic attribution: collection of referrers and UTM parameters to identify the source, medium and campaign associated with a visit.
  • Statistical exploration: date filters, visit trends, popular pages, country and device breakdowns, activity by hour and day, and comparisons between websites.

A complete pipeline, from browser to charts

The track.js script sends page views and events to a Node.js/Express server. Periodic updates record time and scroll depth; an HTTP fallback allows collection when a WebSocket connection is unavailable. MySQL stores visits and events, while APIs supply statistics to a React/Vite, Redux Toolkit and Material UI dashboard with Chart.js visualisations.

Data access uses independent TrackOS authentication, with session renewal and permissions per website. Apache serves the application over HTTPS, and PM2 manages the Node.js process.

My role and applied skills

Data modelling and API design, development of the embeddable script, collector and analytics views, real-time integration, authentication and VPS deployment. TrackOS demonstrates data-focused full stack work: turning browsing events into understandable indicators while managing the collection pipeline and its infrastructure.
